Landmarks and Iconic places to visit in London

Founded nearly a millennium ago and expanded upon over the centuries since, the Tower of London has protected, housed, imprisoned and been for many the last sight they saw on Earth.

It has been the seat of British government and the living quarters of monarchs ... the site of renown political intrigue, and the repository of the Crown Jewels ... It has housed lions, bears, and (to this day) flightless ravens ... not to mention notorious traitors and framed members of court, lords and ministers, clergymen and knights.

An oasis in the city, Kew Gardens is a must visit for any London tourist. See the regal Queens Gardens, Waterlily House, Bamboo Garden and Palm House Parterre as well as exotics and aquatic displays along side loads of interesting things to see and do for the kids. Kew Gardens truly is a great day out for all of the family.

Big Ben is one of London's most well known landmarks, and looks fantastic during the night when the clock faces are lit up. You can even clearly tell when parliament is in session, because a light shines above the clock face. The name Big Ben actually refers not to the clock-tower itself, but to the thirteen ton bell hung within. The bell was named after the first commissioner of works, Sir Benjamin Hall. A truly impressive sight that you will definately want a few snaps of!

From contemporary homewares and the UK largest department store, through to the vibrant and bustling Topshop flagship store through to retail greats like Selfridges, Liberty,  Harvey Nichols and Harrods. For those of you wanting something a little less main-stream, head to Portobello market or Camden Lock market where you will find a huge array of delightful stalls full of brac-a-brac, vintage finds, antiques as well as edgy street wear and clothes from up and coming designers.
